The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 83280 is a 4-flute solid carbide ball end mill designed for high-performance milling in stainless steels, high-temperature alloys, and hardened materials. The 3/16-inch diameter cutter features a Tplus PVD coating and a variable index flute geometry that reduces harmonics and chatter during aggressive cuts. With a 35-degree helix angle and centercutting capability, this end mill handles both roughing and finishing operations in a single tool. It is a single-end, right-hand cutting and flute-direction tool built for close-tolerance work in demanding shop environments.
This end mill is suited for CNC machining centers running stainless steel, nickel-based high-temp alloys, and hardened materials where heat buildup and tool wear are primary concerns. The 5/8-inch length of cut and 2-1/2-inch overall length make it appropriate for shallow-to-moderate-depth cavities and profiling operations. Secondary workpiece materials include general steel and cast iron. It fits standard 3/16-inch straight-cylindrical shank toolholders and collet chucks common in precision machining setups.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills equipped with standard 3/16-inch straight-cylindrical collet or toolholder systems. Primary workpiece materials are stainless steel, high-temperature alloys, and hardened materials; secondary materials include general steel and cast iron.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out state. Ensure the toolholder and collet are clean and within specified runout tolerance before seating the shank; the TIR maximum for this tool is 0.0005 inches. Confirm feed rate, spindle speed, and depth of cut settings are appropriate for the workpiece material before engaging the cut. Do not exceed the tool's length of cut specification when programming axial depth.
