The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 83187 is a 4-flute solid carbide square end mill designed for demanding cutting applications in stainless steel, steel, and cast iron. With a 1/8 inch (0.1250 inch) mill diameter and 3/4 inch (0.7500 inch) length of cut, this single-end tool delivers precise material removal in tight geometries. The variable index design reduces harmonic vibration during cutting, contributing to improved surface finish and extended tool life. A Tplus coating enhances wear resistance and heat tolerance, making this end mill well-suited for the elevated temperatures generated when machining high-temp alloys and stainless grades.
This end mill is used in CNC milling applications where close-tolerance work in stainless steel, alloy steel, or cast iron is required. The 1/8 inch shank diameter fits standard collet chucks commonly used on vertical machining centers and CNC routers. It is appropriate for finish profiling, slotting, and side milling passes in both production shop and job shop environments. Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine spindle fully stopped and the control in an e-stop or lockout state. Ensure the collet or tool holder is clean and free of chips before seating the shank to the full recommended insertion depth. Verify runout with a dial indicator before first use, as excessive runout on a 1/8 inch diameter tool will significantly shorten tool life. Follow the tooling manufacturer and machine builder guidelines for speeds, feeds, and depth of cut for the specific workpiece material.
