The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 83146 is a 6-flute, solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for aggressive roughing in stainless steel, high-temperature alloys, and hardened steel. It features a 0.50 mm (0.0200 inch) corner radius, a 1/4 inch cutting diameter, and a 1/2 inch length of cut. The chipbreaker geometry and variable pitch design reduce chatter and cutting forces during heavy stock removal. Tplus PVD coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection for demanding ferrous and superalloy applications. The single-end, centercutting configuration supports plunge entries. Overall length is 2.5 inches with a straight cylindrical 1/4 inch shank.
This end mill is built for machining stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and titanium-class superalloys. The HEV-C-6 series targets applications where a standard rougher would struggle — interrupted cuts, deep pockets, and side milling in materials that work-harden or generate high heat. It requires high-precision toolholders to maintain runout within the 0.0005 inch TIR maximum. Ideal for CNC machining centers running production or prototype work in aerospace, medical, and industrial fabrication environments.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, and cast iron (ISO material codes P, M, K). Secondary workpiece materials include non-ferrous metals and superalloys including titanium (ISO material codes N, S). Part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS HEV-C-6 series.
Installation requires a high-precision toolholder to maintain TIR at or below 0.0005 inches — shrink-fit or hydraulic holders are strongly recommended. Verify shank seating depth and clamping torque per the toolholder manufacturer specifications before running. Confirm spindle direction is right-hand before engaging the cut. This tool is designed for CNC machining centers and should not be used in manual milling applications where variable feed rates cannot be controlled.
