The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 82990 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for demanding material removal in stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. Built to the HEV-5 series standard, it features a 3/8-inch cutting diameter, a 0.0100-inch corner radius, and five flutes with a variable pitch configuration. The Tplus PVD coating provides thermal and wear resistance suited to high-temperature alloys and hard materials. At 2 inches overall length with a 1/2-inch length of cut, this is a stub-length tool optimized for rigidity over reach. It is centercutting and right-hand cutting, making it compatible with standard CNC machining center setups used by toolmakers, machinists, and production shops.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC milling applications where both roughing and finishing passes are required in difficult-to-machine materials. The HEV-5 series variable-pitch geometry helps suppress chatter during aggressive cuts in stainless steel and nickel-based superalloys. It is equally capable in secondary applications involving non-ferrous metals and hard materials. The straight cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance is designed for use with high-precision toolholders, ensuring runout stays within the specified 0.0005-inch TIR maximum for consistent surface finish and tool life.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders. Primary workpiece materials are stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. Secondary workpiece materials include non-ferrous metals and hard materials. Straight cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance fits standard precision collet chucks and hydraulic toolholders sized for 3/8-inch shank tooling.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Seat the shank fully into a clean, high-precision toolholder and verify runout with a dial indicator before production cutting. Do not exceed the specified length of cut during axial engagement. Follow machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures when handling carbide cutting tools.
