The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 82605 is a 6-flute solid carbide square end mill designed for aggressive material removal in steel and other ferrous alloys. With a 0.5-inch mill diameter, a 0.625-inch length of cut, and a 6-inch overall length, this tool is built for high-efficiency milling where rigidity and edge life matter. The reduced neck geometry extends reach to 3.375 inches while maintaining tool stiffness. APLUS coating provides elevated hardness and oxidation resistance, making it well-suited for dry or semi-dry cutting in demanding steel applications. A licensed machinist or CNC tool-and-die technician is the typical end user.
This end mill fits production machining environments where steel components require consistent finish and tight tolerances. The variable index flute spacing reduces harmonics and chatter during full-slot or peripheral milling passes. The reduced neck profile allows access to deep pockets and stepped features without sacrificing rigidity at the cutting zone. Right-hand cut and right-hand helical flutes are standard for conventional CNC vertical machining center setups. The single-end configuration means the tool is replaced rather than indexed when worn.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers equipped with standard 0.5-inch straight-cylindrical shank toolholders. Intended for milling steels and ferrous alloys per the HELICAL SOLUTIONS End Mills for Steels series specification.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before loading or changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder and torque retention hardware per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production cycle, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on multi-flute carbide tools.
