The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 82472 is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for aluminum machining applications. Built on the End Mills for Aluminum series, this 3-flute tool features a 40-degree helix angle, variable pitch (variable index) geometry, and a reduced neck profile that improves clearance and rigidity in deep-pocket and contour work. The Zplus coating provides lubricity and edge protection suited to non-ferrous cutting. At 3/16 inches in diameter with a 7/32-inch length of cut, this tool is sized for fine detail work, slotting, and profiling passes where a smaller cutter footprint is required. Machinists, CNC programmers, and tool-and-die professionals working in production or prototype aluminum environments are the primary users.
This end mill is designed for use in aluminum and other non-ferrous materials where chip evacuation and surface finish are priorities. The reduced neck extends usable reach to 1.312 inches, allowing access to deeper features without requiring a longer overall tool. The variable index flute spacing reduces harmonic chatter during high-speed machining. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly into standard ER or side-lock toolholders. It is a single-end, right-hand cutting, right-hand flute configuration running in conventional CNC milling setups.
Designed as an OEM-specification solid carbide end mill for aluminum and non-ferrous milling operations where a 3/16-inch diameter, reduced-neck, variable-pitch 3-flute geometry is required.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank in a clean, properly sized collet or toolholder, torquing to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout before cutting. Confirm spindle speed, feed rate, and depth-of-cut parameters are appropriate for aluminum before initiating the program — do not transfer speeds and feeds from steel toolpaths without adjustment.
