The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 82464 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for high-performance milling of aluminum alloys and non-ferrous materials. The 3-flute, single-end geometry with a 40-degree high-helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduced heat buildup during aggressive cuts. At 3/8 inches in diameter with a 2-inch length of cut and 4-inch overall length, this tool handles both roughing and finishing operations in a single setup. The Zplus PVD coating improves lubricity and tool life in non-ferrous applications. A variable pitch flute spacing helps dampen chatter, making it well-suited for high-speed machining environments.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC milling operations targeting aluminum alloys and other non-ferrous metals. Its long-length configuration allows access to deeper features such as pockets, slots, and contoured surfaces. The ball-nose profile makes it particularly effective for 3D contouring and profiling passes. Machinists working in job shop, production, or aerospace-adjacent environments will find the combination of carbide substrate and Zplus coating effective for maintaining sharp cutting edges across extended run times in non-ferrous materials.
Designed for use with aluminum alloys and non-ferrous metals as part of the Helical Solutions 3 Flute Ball 40 Helix Variable Pitch End Mills for Aluminum Alloys and Non-Ferrous Materials series. Fits standard 3/8-inch collets and tool holders with a straight-cylindrical shank interface.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before loading or changing tooling. Use a properly sized collet or end mill holder that matches the 3/8-inch shank diameter to maintain runout within the specified TIR of 0.0003 inches. Confirm tool projection and reach clearance before initiating the first cut to avoid tool-holder collision with the workpiece.
