The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 82405 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for aluminum and non-ferrous metal machining. It features a 1/8 inch cutting diameter, a 0.01 inch corner radius, and three flutes arranged in a variable-pitch configuration with a 40-degree high helix angle. The variable pitch design reduces harmonic chatter during high-speed cuts, making this tool well-suited for finishing and light roughing passes in aluminum alloys. It is single-end and centercutting, allowing plunge entry. Overall length is 2.5 inches with a 0.5 inch length of cut. The 1/8 inch straight cylindrical shank is ground to h6 tolerance for compatibility with high-precision toolholders. This tool is installed and run by machinists and CNC operators working in job shop, production, and aerospace environments.
This end mill is designed primarily for aluminum and non-ferrous metals, with secondary capability in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials. Typical applications include profiling, slotting, and contouring in CNC machining centers where tight corner geometry and surface finish quality are required. The uncoated bright finish is appropriate for aluminum applications where coatings can cause material adhesion. The variable-pitch flute spacing of the H40ALV-3 series helps suppress vibration in long-reach or high-RPM setups common in aluminum aerospace and general-purpose milling work.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders. Primary workpiece material is aluminum and non-ferrous metals; secondary materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials. Part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS H40ALV-3 series.
Install in a high-precision toolholder to maintain the 0.0003 inch maximum TIR specification. Verify shank seating and collet torque per toolholder manufacturer guidelines before running. Right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting direction must match spindle rotation — confirm spindle direction before engaging the cut. Inspect the corner radius and cutting edges for chips or wear before each use, as carbide end mills are brittle and should not be forced into interrupted cuts beyond their rated capacity.
