The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 82272 is a 4-flute solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance material removal in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. It features a 0.5-inch mill diameter with a 1.25-inch length of cut and a 3-inch overall length. The variable index design reduces harmonic vibration during cutting, improving surface finish and tool life. A Tplus coating provides enhanced lubricity and wear resistance. The 35-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation, making this end mill well suited to demanding milling operations where consistent results are required. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary users.
This end mill is built for milling applications in ferrous materials including carbon steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. It fits into conventional and CNC machining centers, knee mills, and toolroom mills. The 0.5-inch straight shank seats into standard ER or side-lock tool holders. Single-end configuration means full length of cut is available from one working end. The Tplus-coated flutes are engineered for the elevated cutting temperatures typical of stainless steel and high-temp alloy work, making this tool appropriate for production and job-shop environments alike.
Designed for use in machining centers and manual mills with standard 0.5-inch straight-shank tool holders. Primary workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. Part of the Helical Solutions End Mills for Stainless and High Temp 4 Flute Square Variable Pitch series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Secure the shank fully in the tool holder to the recommended gauge line to minimize runout and maximize rigidity. Ensure the spindle and axis drives are at a complete stop and machine power is locked out before changing tooling. Refer to the machine tool manufacturer and cutting tool data sheets for appropriate feeds, speeds, and depth-of-cut parameters for the specific workpiece material.
