The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 82271 is a solid carbide, 4-flute square end mill designed for high-performance milling in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. It features a 0.5-inch mill diameter, a 1-inch length of cut, and a 3-inch overall length. The Tplus coating provides enhanced wear resistance and lubricity for demanding ferrous machining applications. Variable index flute spacing reduces harmonic vibration, improving surface finish and tool life. The 35-degree right-hand helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation. This tool is suited for machinists and tool and die professionals running production or prototype work in CNC machining centers.
The 82271 is engineered for milling steel, stainless steel, and cast iron in both roughing and finishing operations. The single-end, center-cutting design allows plunge entry and side milling without a pre-drilled pilot hole. With a straight 0.5-inch shank and 3-inch overall length, it mounts directly in standard ER or end mill holders. It is part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS End Mills for Stainless and High Temp 4 Flute Square Variable Pitch series, optimized for materials with high tensile strength and work-hardening characteristics.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers with standard 0.5-inch end mill or collet holders. Primary workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, and cast iron, corresponding to material codes P, M, and K.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the spindle fully stopped and machine power isolated before tool changes. Secure the straight shank in a clean, properly sized end mill holder or ER collet chuck, ensuring adequate shank engagement per toolholder manufacturer guidelines. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for damage before mounting. Follow shop-specific speeds, feeds, and depth-of-cut parameters for the specific workpiece material and machine rigidity.
