The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 82261 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance metal removal in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron applications. Built with 4 flutes and a variable-pitch (variable index) design, this tool reduces harmonic vibration during aggressive cuts, improving surface finish and extending tool life. It features a 3/4 inch cutting diameter, a 4 inch length of cut, and a 6.5 inch overall length. The APLUS coating provides enhanced lubricity and heat resistance, making it well suited for dry or near-dry cutting in ferrous materials. This end mill is a single-end, right-hand cut, right-hand flute tool with a straight 3/4 inch shank and a 35-degree helix angle.
This end mill is used in CNC milling operations targeting steel alloys, stainless steel, and cast iron in both job shop and production environments. The 4 inch length of cut supports deep-pocket and side-wall milling where shorter tools cannot reach. Machinists and CNC programmers working in aerospace, die and mold, and general metalworking will find this tool applicable wherever a rigid, center-cutting, variable-index end mill is needed for ferrous stock removal. The straight shank accepts standard ER collets, hydraulic chucks, and shrink-fit toolholding systems.
Designed for use on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines with toolholding that accepts a 3/4 inch straight shank. Rated for primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, and cast iron (ISO material codes P, M, and K).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an e-stop or lockout state before loading or changing the tool. Confirm runout at the shank and cutting end with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as excessive runout accelerates wear and can cause premature tool failure. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque specifications when tightening collet nuts or chuck bodies.
