The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 82022 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for high-efficiency roughing in aluminum and non-ferrous materials. It carries a 0.5-inch mill diameter, a 1.625-inch length of cut, and a 0.03-inch corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge and extends tool life in aggressive material removal applications. The Zplus PVD coating improves lubricity and heat resistance, making this end mill well-suited for the high surface speeds and chip volumes common in aluminum machining. Three flutes with a variable pitch and chipbreaker geometry support chip evacuation and help suppress chatter during roughing passes.
This end mill is designed for roughing operations on aluminum and non-ferrous metals as the primary workpiece material, with secondary capability in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials. It fits standard 0.5-inch straight-cylindrical shank toolholders and is optimized for use with high-precision toolholders to maintain the 0.0003-inch maximum TIR specification. Typical applications include profiling, slotting, and pocketing in CNC machining centers running aluminum structural components, molds, or fixtures. The single-end, center-cutting design allows plunge entry and full-slot cutting where needed.
Part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS H35ALV-C-3 series; designed for use with high-precision toolholders accepting a 0.5-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece material is aluminum and non-ferrous metals; secondary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in an e-stop or lockout-tagout state per shop safety protocols. Seat the shank fully into a clean, high-precision toolholder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the cutting edges and corner radius for chips or wear before each use, and verify runout does not exceed the 0.0003-inch TIR maximum to prevent premature tool failure or workpiece damage.
