The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 81855 is a 5-flute solid carbide corner radius end mill built for demanding material removal in stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. It carries a 3/16 inch (0.1875 inch) mill diameter, a 0.030 inch corner radius, and a 9/16 inch (0.5625 inch) length of cut. The Tplus PVD coating reduces heat and wear when cutting hard and abrasive materials. Variable index geometry and right-hand spiral flutes promote chip evacuation and reduce chatter at higher feed rates. Centercutting capability allows plunge entry. This tool is intended for machinists and tool-and-die professionals running precision CNC milling operations.
The 81855 is suited for finish and roughing passes in aerospace, medical, and precision manufacturing applications where stainless steel, nickel-based superalloys, and titanium are common workpiece materials. Its regular-length profile and straight cylindrical shank make it compatible with high-precision toolholders and standard ER collet chucks. The single-end configuration and 2.5 inch overall length fit typical vertical and horizontal machining center setups. Secondary applications include hard materials and non-ferrous metals where a tough PVD-coated carbide edge is required.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders and ER collet systems. Primary workpiece materials are stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium (ISO material codes M and S). Secondary workpiece materials include non-ferrous metals and hard materials (ISO material codes N and H). Part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS HEV-5 series.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures and equipment lockout protocols before changing tooling. Seat the straight cylindrical shank fully into a high-precision toolholder or collet chuck and confirm runout does not exceed the 0.0005 inch TIR maximum before cutting. Verify spindle speed, feed rate, and depth of cut against material-specific machining data for stainless steel or superalloy applications before engaging the workpiece. Do not exceed the rated length of cut or use the tool in impact conditions outside its design parameters.
