The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 81714 is a 5-flute solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in steel and other ferrous alloys. It features a 3/8 inch (0.375 inch) mill diameter with a matching 3/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank and a 2.5 inch overall length. The variable pitch flute spacing reduces harmonic chatter during aggressive cuts, while the APLUS coating improves wear resistance and heat dissipation at elevated cutting speeds. Center-cutting geometry allows plunge entry as well as peripheral and slot milling. This tool is suited for machinists and CNC operators running production or job-shop work on steel components.
This end mill is intended for steel-focused milling applications in both production and job-shop environments. The 3/4 inch length of cut, combined with the 5-flute configuration, supports higher feed rates compared to standard 4-flute tooling, making it a practical choice for finishing passes and moderate material removal in steel. The right-hand cut and right-hand helical flutes are standard for conventional CNC vertical machining center setups. It is sold individually and is appropriate for machinists working on tight-tolerance steel parts where surface finish and tool life are priorities.

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine in a powered-off and locked-out state before tool changes. Follow your machine tool's programming and feeds-and-speeds guidelines for carbide tooling in steel to avoid premature wear or tool breakage.
