The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 81636 is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for steel cutting applications. It measures 1/8 inch in diameter with a 5/8 inch length of cut and a 2-1/2 inch overall length. The four-flute, right-hand helical geometry is paired with a variable index (unequal flute spacing) design that reduces harmonic chatter during aggressive milling passes. An APLUS coating increases surface hardness and heat resistance, extending tool life in ferrous materials. Machinists and CNC programmers in job shops, tool rooms, and manufacturing environments rely on this geometry for finishing and semi-finishing steel components.
This end mill is designed for use in steel milling applications where chatter suppression and edge life are priorities. The variable pitch configuration makes it well-suited for side milling, slotting, and profiling operations in steels. It belongs to the Helical Solutions End Mills for Steels - 4 Flute - Square - Variable Pitch series, a lineup built specifically around the cutting demands of carbon, alloy, and tool steels. The straight cylindrical shank seats directly in standard 1/8 inch collets or end mill holders without modification.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and direct-fit cutting tool for CNC machining centers and manual mills equipped with standard 1/8 inch collet or end mill holder systems; part of the Helical Solutions End Mills for Steels - 4 Flute - Square - Variable Pitch series.
Tool installation and changeout should be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per applicable shop safety procedures. Seat the shank fully into a clean, undamaged collet or end mill holder and torque the retention nut to the holder manufacturer's specification. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or coating damage before use. Tool runout should be verified with a dial indicator after installation to ensure concentricity within acceptable limits for the intended operation.
