The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 81571 is a single-end, square-profile solid carbide end mill designed for cutting aluminum and other non-ferrous materials. It features a 0.25-inch mill diameter, a 0.375-inch length of cut, and a 45-degree right-hand helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation in gummy, low-hardness alloys. The reduced-neck geometry extends usable reach to 2.5 inches while keeping the shank diameter at 0.25 inches, allowing access to deeper pockets without sacrificing rigidity. Three flutes and a bright, uncoated finish make this tool well-suited for high-speed aluminum finishing and roughing passes where coating buildup is a concern. Installed by machinists and CNC operators in job shop and production environments.
This end mill fits standard 0.25-inch collet or end mill holders on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills. It is intended for aluminum, brass, copper, and other non-ferrous workpiece materials coded N under standard cutting tool material classifications. The 4-inch overall length and extended 2.5-inch reach make it practical for slotting, profiling, and pocketing operations where a standard-length tool cannot reach the full depth of the feature. The reduced neck keeps deflection manageable at extended reach.
Designed for use in 0.25-inch end mill holders or collet chucks on CNC and manual milling machines. Primary workpiece material is aluminum and non-ferrous metals. Part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS End Mills for Aluminum series featuring a 3-flute, square-end, 45-degree helix, reduced-neck configuration.
Installation requires a properly sized collet or end mill holder torqued per the machine tool manufacturer specification. Verify spindle rotation direction matches the right-hand cutting direction before running. Ensure the tool is seated to full shank engagement depth in the holder to minimize runout and deflection at extended reach. Coolant-through is not supported on this tool; flood or mist cooling at the exterior is recommended when machining aluminum at elevated feed rates.
