The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 81518 is a single-end, corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in aluminum, non-ferrous metals, steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials. Built from solid carbide with a Zplus PVD coating, it measures 0.5 inches in diameter with a 0.0600-inch corner radius and a 5/8-inch length of cut. The 3-flute, right-hand spiral geometry combined with a variable pitch and 40-degree high helix angle supports both roughing and finishing operations. Extended reach of 2.75 inches makes it well-suited for deep-pocket and complex-contour applications requiring rigidity and surface quality.
This end mill belongs to the H40ALV-RN-3 series, engineered primarily for aluminum and non-ferrous machining but capable across a broad range of secondary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials. The centercutting design allows plunge entry, and the straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance fits high-precision toolholders. With a 4.5-inch overall length and 2.75-inch reach length, it is appropriate for setups where clearance is limited and tool deflection must be minimized. Typical applications include aerospace components, mold and die work, and general precision machining in job shop or production environments.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders. Primary workpiece material is aluminum and non-ferrous metal; secondary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials. Part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS H40ALV-RN-3 series.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Secure the shank fully within a high-precision toolholder to within the specified h6 shank tolerance before tightening. Power down and lock out the spindle before any tool change. Do not exceed the reach length or overhang the tool beyond the neck diameter without verifying deflection and chatter limits for the specific setup.
