The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 81514 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in both roughing and finishing operations. It features a 1/2 inch diameter, a 0.0300 inch corner radius, and three flutes with a variable pitch and high-helix geometry. The Zplus PVD coating improves wear resistance and chip evacuation, particularly in non-ferrous and aluminum applications. Extended reach geometry with a 2-3/4 inch reach length and a reduced 0.4750 inch neck diameter allows access to deeper features without sacrificing rigidity. This tool is intended for use in CNC machining centers by skilled machinists and toolroom professionals.
This end mill is suited for milling aluminum, non-ferrous metals, steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials. The corner radius configuration reduces stress concentrations at the cutting edge, extending tool life in both slotting and profiling passes. The single-end, centercutting design supports plunge entry. It is optimized for use with high-precision toolholders and performs best in applications that demand consistent edge geometry and tight tolerances. Series H40ALV-RN-3 identifies this tool within the HELICAL SOLUTIONS extended-reach variable-index family.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders in CNC machining applications. Primary workpiece material is aluminum and non-ferrous metals; secondary materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials. Part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS H40ALV-RN-3 series.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists using CNC machining centers. Seat the 1/2 inch straight-cylindrical shank fully into a high-precision toolholder and verify runout does not exceed the 0.0003 inch TIR maximum before cutting. Confirm spindle direction matches the right-hand cutting configuration before initiating any toolpath. Do not exceed the recommended reach depth for the neck diameter, as excessive lateral force on the neck can cause tool deflection or breakage.
