The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 81476 is a 3-flute solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance aluminum milling. Built with a 40-degree helix angle and variable pitch (variable index) geometry, it reduces chatter and improves surface finish in non-ferrous materials. The cutting diameter is 0.375 inches (3/8 inches), length of cut is 0.5 inches (1/2 inches), and overall length is 3 inches. A Zplus coating provides lubricity and edge protection suited to aluminum alloys. The reduced neck profile extends reach to 1.625 inches while maintaining rigidity. This tool is intended for CNC machinists and toolroom operators running aluminum roughing and finishing passes.
This end mill is engineered for aluminum and other non-ferrous materials where chip evacuation and edge sharpness are critical. The 3-flute configuration balances chip clearance with cutting efficiency in softer materials. The reduced neck and extended reach design make it well-suited for pocketing, slotting, and profiling operations where clearance above the cut zone is limited. It carries a straight-cylindrical shank at 0.375 inches diameter, compatible with standard ER collets and end mill holders used in VMCs, HMCs, and manual mills.

Installation is performed by a CNC machinist or toolroom operator. Seat the straight shank fully into a collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism to the toolholder manufacturer specification before running. Verify runout with a dial indicator before committing to a production cut. Confirm spindle speed and feed rates match the manufacturer recommended parameters for the specific aluminum alloy and cut depth being used.
