The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 81428 is a 3-flute solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in a wide range of materials. Built on the H40ALV-3 series platform, it features a 0.0300-inch corner radius, a 0.2500-inch mill diameter, and a 0.5000-inch length of cut. The Zplus PVD coating reduces friction and extends tool life in aluminum and non-ferrous applications, while also supporting use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials. A variable index geometry and high helix style reduce chatter and improve chip evacuation. This tool handles both roughing and finishing operations, making it a practical single-tool choice for shops running aggressive material removal cycles.
This end mill is suited for CNC machining centers in job shop, production, and aerospace-adjacent environments where tight tolerances and surface finish matter. Its primary material application is aluminum and non-ferrous metals, with secondary capability across steel, stainless, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys. The straight cylindrical shank accepts high-precision toolholders and collet systems standard in most vertical and horizontal machining setups. Single-end, center-cutting design supports both plunge entries and conventional profiling passes without a dedicated drilling operation.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders. Primary workpiece materials are aluminum and non-ferrous metals; secondary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials. Series H40ALV-3.
Installation is performed by a CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or spindle is locked out before loading or removing the end mill. Seat the shank fully into a high-precision collet or shrink-fit holder and verify runout does not exceed the 0.0003-inch TIR maximum before running the first cut. Inspect the corner radius and cutting edges for chipping after each job, particularly when transitioning between workpiece materials.
