The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 59885 is a 5-flute solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. Built on the HEV-5 series platform, it features a 0.1200-inch corner radius, a 0.5000-inch mill diameter, and a 1-1/4-inch length of cut. The variable pitch geometry reduces harmonic vibration during cutting, which helps extend tool life and improve surface finish. At 3 inches overall length with a straight cylindrical 1/2-inch shank, it seats securely in standard and high-precision toolholders. The Tplus PVD coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection suited to high-hardness work materials.
This end mill is rated for primary use in stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, with secondary capability in non-ferrous metals and hard materials. It is a center-cutting, single-end tool, meaning it can plunge directly into the workpiece in addition to performing side and slot milling operations. The roughing and finishing material removal classification makes it suitable for both stock removal passes and finish contour work in a single tool. CNC machining centers and manual knee mills running high-precision toolholders are the typical installation context.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders. Primary workpiece materials are stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. Secondary workpiece materials include non-ferrous metals and hard materials. Part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS HEV-5 series.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine power in a safe state per shop lockout procedures. Seat the straight cylindrical shank fully into a high-precision toolholder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Confirm runout does not exceed the 0.0005-inch maximum TIR before beginning a cut. Avoid using this tool in standard set-screw collets where TIR cannot be verified, as elevated runout accelerates corner radius wear and reduces tool life.
