The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 59870 is a 5-flute, solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. Built on the HEV-5 series platform, it features a 3/8 inch mill diameter, a 0.03 inch corner radius, and a 1 inch length of cut. The Tplus PVD coating is engineered for extended tool life when cutting stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. Variable pitch flute geometry reduces harmonic vibration during aggressive cuts. This tool is centercutting, supports both roughing and finishing operations, and is intended for use with high-precision toolholders in CNC machining environments.
The 59870 is suited for precision machining in aerospace, medical, and industrial applications where difficult-to-machine materials such as stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, non-ferrous metals, and hard materials are common. The corner radius geometry reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge, extending tool life in high-load conditions. The straight cylindrical shank and 3 inch overall length make it compatible with standard collet and shrink-fit tooling setups on vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders. Optimized for machining stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, non-ferrous metals, and hard materials. Straight cylindrical shank fits standard collet, shrink-fit, and hydraulic chucks sized for 3/8 inch shank diameters.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in an e-stop or lockout state. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder to the minimum grip depth recommended by the toolholder manufacturer before torquing. Use a high-precision toolholder to stay within the 0.0005 inch maximum TIR specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before initiating the first cut to protect both the tool and the workpiece.
