The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 59848 is a 5-flute solid carbide square end mill engineered for cutting stainless steel and high-temperature alloys. It runs a 0.5-inch cutting diameter with a 1.625-inch length of cut and a 4-inch overall length. The variable index flute spacing disrupts harmonic chatter, which is a common issue when machining tough, work-hardening materials. The Tplus coating adds surface hardness and lubricity to extend tool life in demanding applications. This end mill is a single-end, centercutting tool with a right-hand cut and right-hand helical flutes on a straight cylindrical shank. CNC machinists and toolroom operators running stainless, Inconel, titanium, and similar alloys are the primary users.
This tool is designed for milling operations on stainless steel grades and high-temperature alloys where heat buildup and work hardening are primary concerns. The variable pitch geometry reduces vibration and allows higher feed rates compared to standard equal-pitch end mills. Typical applications include slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling on vertical machining centers and CNC mills. The 0.5-inch shank diameter is compatible with standard ER and milling chuck toolholders. A 1.625-inch length of cut provides enough reach for most medium-depth slot and profile work without excessive overhang.
Designed as an OEM-style cutting tool in the HELICAL SOLUTIONS End Mills for Stainless and High Temp 5 Flute Square Variable Pitch series. Best suited for machining stainless steel and high-temperature alloys. Verify toolholder bore and runout tolerance before use.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom personnel. Secure the shank fully within the toolholder to the manufacturer-recommended gauge length, ensuring proper grip length without excessive overhang. Confirm spindle direction is set to right-hand rotation before engaging the cut. Follow your machine tool manufacturer and shop safety guidelines for speeds, feeds, and coolant application appropriate to the workpiece material.
