The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 59406 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for aggressive material removal in steel, cast iron, and related ferrous alloys. It features a 1/2 inch cutting diameter, a 0.03 inch corner radius, and five flutes arranged in a variable-pitch (variable index) configuration. The chipbreaker geometry on the flute profiles reduces cutting forces and breaks chips into manageable segments, making this tool well suited for roughing passes where heat and tool pressure are concerns. The APLUS PVD coating improves surface hardness and heat resistance at the cutting edge, extending tool life in demanding milling operations.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers and high-precision milling setups where a rigid, high-quality toolholder is required. Primary workpiece materials include low-alloy steel, medium alloy steel, tool steel, and cast iron. Secondary applications cover stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The 1-1/4 inch length of cut and 3 inch overall length suit standard pocket milling, slotting, and peripheral roughing operations in job shop and production environments. It is a single-end, centercutting design, allowing plunge entry where needed.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders in CNC milling applications. Primary workpiece materials are steel and cast iron (ISO material codes P and K). Secondary workpiece materials are stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium (ISO material codes M and S). Part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS HEV-C-5 series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Seat the shank fully into a high-precision toolholder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer's specifications. Verify runout against the maximum TIR value before beginning the cut. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or coating damage before each use, and do not use this tool in applications requiring coolant-through delivery, as this design does not support it.
