The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 59118 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in aluminum and non-ferrous metals, with secondary capability in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials. It features a 1/2 inch mill diameter, a 0.0600 inch corner radius, and a 3-flute spiral geometry with a 35-degree medium helix angle. The bright/uncoated finish makes it well-suited for aluminum applications where coating buildup is a concern. Machinists and CNC operators running high-precision toolholders will find this end mill a direct fit for both roughing and finishing operations in a single tool.
This end mill is built for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills where aluminum and non-ferrous materials are the primary workpiece. Its stub-length configuration with a 5/8 inch length of cut and 2-1/2 inch overall length provides rigidity and reduced deflection in tight setups. The coarse pitch, right-hand cut, and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional milling approaches. It is centercutting, allowing plunge entry where the operation requires it. The H35AL-3 series designation indicates it is optimized for aluminum with extended tool life in non-ferrous applications.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders. Primary workpiece material is aluminum and non-ferrous metal (Material Application Code: N). Secondary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials (Codes: P, M, S, H). Part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS H35AL-3 series.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked before inserting or removing the end mill from the toolholder. Verify toolholder bore and collet size match the 1/2 inch shank diameter before seating. Maximum TIR of 0.0003 inch requires a clean, undamaged toolholder bore to maintain runout specification.
