The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 49421 is a 3-flute solid carbide ball end mill designed for high-performance material removal in aluminum alloys and other non-ferrous metals. With a 3/4-inch cutting diameter, a 2.25-inch length of cut, and a 40-degree high helix angle, this tool is built for both roughing and finishing passes in a single setup. The Zplus PVD coating reduces heat buildup and extends tool life in non-ferrous applications. The variable pitch flute geometry helps suppress chatter and maintain surface finish quality at aggressive feed rates. The straight cylindrical shank and h6 tolerance on both shank and mill diameter ensure consistent runout in standard end mill holders.
This end mill is suited for CNC machining centers running aluminum structural components, aerospace profiles, mold work in non-ferrous stock, and general production applications where tool life and finish quality matter. The single-end, right-hand cutting configuration fits conventional climb-milling strategies common in aluminum work. At 5 inches overall length with a 2.25-inch reach, it handles moderate-depth pockets and slots without excessive overhang. The 0.375-inch nose radius produces a full ball profile for contour milling, 3D surfacing, and ramping operations.
Designed for use in aluminum alloys and non-ferrous metals. Part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS 3 Flute Ball 40 Helix Variable Pitch End Mills for Aluminum Alloys and Non-Ferrous Materials series. Accepts standard 3/4-inch end mill holders and collet chucks with straight cylindrical shank retention.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Secure the 3/4-inch straight shank in a properly sized end mill holder or collet chuck and verify runout against the stated TIR maximum of 0.0003 inches before cutting. Power down and lock out the spindle before tooling changes. Do not use this tool on ferrous materials, as the coating and geometry are optimized specifically for non-ferrous applications.
