The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 49241 is a single-end, 3-flute solid carbide ball end mill designed for cutting aluminum alloys and non-ferrous materials. It features a 3/8-inch mill diameter, a 1-1/2-inch length of cut, and a 40-degree high helix angle with variable pitch geometry. The Zplus PVD coating provides lubricity and edge hardness suited to non-ferrous applications. At 3-1/2 inches overall length with a 3/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank, this tool fits standard collet and end mill holders used by CNC machinists in production and job-shop environments.
This end mill is built for both roughing and finishing passes in aluminum alloys and non-ferrous metals. The variable pitch flute spacing reduces harmonic chatter during aggressive material removal, making it effective on CNC machining centers, knee mills, and high-speed spindle setups. The ball nose profile allows profiling, contouring, and 3D surface work where a flat-bottom tool cannot reach. It is intended for use in professional machine shop environments where tooling performance directly affects cycle time and surface finish quality.
Designed for use in aluminum alloys and non-ferrous metals; part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS 3 Flute Ball 40 Helix Variable Pitch End Mills for Aluminum Alloys and Non-Ferrous Materials series. Fits standard 3/8-inch collets and end mill holders with a straight-cylindrical shank interface.
Installation is performed by CNC machinists or tool-and-die professionals using a calibrated collet chuck or end mill holder rated for the spindle speed and tool diameter in use. Verify runout does not exceed the maximum TIR specification before beginning a cut. Follow machine manufacturer guidelines for tool clamping torque and stick-out length to maintain rigidity. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each setup and replace the tool at the first sign of edge degradation to avoid workpiece damage.
