The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 49210 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for high-performance milling of aluminum alloys and non-ferrous materials. With a 3/8-inch cutting diameter, 1-inch length of cut, and a 40-degree high-helix angle, this single-end mill delivers efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes in softer, gummy materials where heat and chip packing are common failure points. The three-flute geometry uses a variable pitch configuration to reduce harmonic vibration during aggressive cuts. The bright, uncoated finish is intentional for aluminum work - coatings can cause material adhesion on non-ferrous alloys. This tool is sized for use in machining centers, CNC mills, and manual knee mills by machinists and tool-and-die professionals.
This end mill is built for roughing and finishing passes on aluminum, brass, copper, and other non-ferrous metals. The 3/8-inch straight cylindrical shank fits standard ER collets and side-lock holders. The 2.5-inch overall length and 1-inch reach length keep deflection manageable at typical axial depths. The h6 shank and diameter tolerances ensure consistent runout when seated in precision toolholding, with a maximum TIR of 0.0003 inches.
Designed for use in machining aluminum alloys and non-ferrous metals. Fits standard 3/8-inch collets and toolholders in CNC machining centers and manual mills. Not recommended for ferrous or hardened workpiece materials.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the straight cylindrical shank fully into the collet or toolholder to the recommended gauge line and verify runout with a dial indicator before cutting. Do not use this tool on ferrous or hardened materials, as the uncoated carbide substrate is not optimized for those applications.
