The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 49061 is a single-end, 3-flute solid carbide ball end mill designed for milling aluminum and non-ferrous materials. It features a 3/16 inch (0.1875 inch) mill diameter, a 3/4 inch length of cut, and a 40-degree high helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation in gummy, soft metals. The Zplus (ZrN) PVD coating reduces built-up edge and extends tool life in aluminum applications. With a nose radius of 0.0938 inches and a right-hand cutting and flute direction, this tool handles both roughing and finishing operations in a single setup. It belongs to the H40ALV-3 series.
This end mill is suited for CNC machining centers running aluminum alloys and other non-ferrous workpiece materials. The standard-length geometry and 3/16 inch straight-cylindrical shank make it a practical choice for close-tolerance profiling, slotting, and contouring passes where a ball-nose profile is required. The centercutting design allows plunge entry. It is not designed for extended-reach applications and does not feature coolant-through capability, making it best suited for flooded or mist-coolant setups typical in production and job-shop environments.
Designed for use with aluminum alloys and non-ferrous materials (primary workpiece material code N). Fits standard 3/16 inch collets and tool holders accepting a straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified CNC machining personnel with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in an e-stop or lockout/tagout state. Seat the straight-cylindrical shank fully into a clean, undamaged collet or end mill holder before torquing to the holder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout does not exceed the maximum TIR of 0.0003 inches using a dial indicator before initiating a cut. Do not use this tool on ferrous materials, as it is engineered specifically for aluminum and non-ferrous applications.
