The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 49041 is a 3-flute solid carbide ball end mill designed for milling aluminum alloys and other non-ferrous materials. It carries a 0.1250-inch mill diameter with a 0.5000-inch length of cut and a 40-degree high-helix geometry that promotes efficient chip evacuation in gummy, low-iron materials. The Zplus PVD coating reduces built-up edge and extends tool life in aluminum applications. At 2.5000 inches overall length with a 0.1250-inch straight-cylindrical shank, it fits standard collet and end mill holders used in CNC machining centers and manual mills. The nose radius is 0.0625 inches, producing a true ball-end profile for contouring, slotting, and 3D surfacing work.
This end mill is suited for production and job-shop environments running aluminum alloy components, copper, brass, and other non-ferrous stock. The 40-degree helix and right-hand cutting direction make it a practical choice for finish passes and combined roughing-and-finishing strategies on parts requiring tight tolerances. It is a single-end tool sold individually and sized for smaller-feature work, including pockets, fillets, and complex contoured surfaces where a 1/8-inch ball profile is required.
Designed for use in aluminum alloys and non-ferrous materials (material code N); part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS 3-Flute Ball 40-Degree Helix End Mills for Aluminum Alloys and Non-Ferrous Materials series. Fits any 1/8-inch collet or end mill holder accepting a straight-cylindrical shank with h6 shank diameter tolerance.
Installation is performed by machinists and CNC setup technicians; power down and lock out the spindle before inserting or removing the tool from the holder. Seat the shank fully into the collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout against the stated TIR maximum of 0.0003 inches before beginning a cut. Do not exceed the rated length of cut of 0.5000 inches to avoid deflection or tool breakage.
