The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 49036 is a 3-flute solid carbide ball end mill designed for milling aluminum alloys and non-ferrous materials in high-performance machining environments. The 1/8 inch cutting diameter and 3/8 inch length of cut make it well suited for intricate profiling, contouring, and finishing passes in tight geometries. A 40-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces built-up edge when cutting soft, gummy materials. The Zplus PVD coating adds lubricity and wear resistance without adding significant edge radius, preserving sharpness across both roughing and finishing operations. This tool is installed by machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, aerospace, and production environments.
The 49036 is engineered specifically for non-ferrous metals, with aluminum alloys as the primary workpiece material. The single-end, right-hand cutting configuration with a straight-cylindrical 1/8 inch shank fits standard collet chucks and end mill holders. The 2 inch overall length provides enough clearance for most short-reach setups while keeping deflection minimal at this diameter. Variable pitch geometry reduces harmonic chatter during aggressive passes, making it effective across both finishing and light roughing applications in aluminum, brass, copper, and similar non-ferrous stock.
Designed for use in aluminum alloys and non-ferrous materials as part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS 3 Flute Ball 40 Helix Variable Pitch End Mills for Aluminum Alloys and Non-Ferrous Materials series. Fits any standard 1/8 inch collet, end mill holder, or shrink-fit toolholder rated for straight-cylindrical shanks.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Confirm spindle and toolholder are fully de-energized and at rest before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder to the recommended gauge line and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout at the cutting tip before beginning a production run, as the maximum TIR for this tool is 0.0003 inches.
