The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 48451 is a single-end corner radius end mill designed for high-efficiency material removal and finishing in CNC machining applications. Built from solid carbide and coated with a proprietary Zplus PVD coating, it measures 0.5 inches in diameter with a 0.125-inch corner radius and a 1.625-inch length of cut. The 3-flute, right-hand spiral geometry runs at a 40-degree high helix angle with variable pitch indexing, which reduces harmonics and chatter during aggressive cuts. It is centercutting and accepts straight-cylindrical toolholders, making it compatible with high-precision collet and shrink-fit systems. Machinists and CNC programmers working in job shops, aerospace, and general manufacturing will find this tool well suited for both roughing and finishing passes.
This end mill is optimized primarily for aluminum and non-ferrous metals, with secondary capability in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials. It is a standard-length tool in the H40ALV-3 series, intended for use in high-precision toolholders where runout control is critical. Typical applications include profiling, slotting, and contouring on CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers where a tight corner radius tolerance and repeatable surface finish are required.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders. Primary workpiece material is aluminum and non-ferrous metal; secondary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials. Part of the H40ALV-3 series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder to the recommended gauge length and torque the collet or retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specifications before spindle operation. Verify runout at the cutting edge with a dial indicator before running production cuts, as TIR tolerance is 0.0003 inches. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer recommended speeds and feeds for the target workpiece material.
