The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 48430 is a solid carbide, single-end corner radius end mill engineered for high-efficiency material removal in aluminum and other non-ferrous metals. It carries a 0.5-inch mill diameter, a 1.625-inch length of cut, and a 0.015-inch corner radius that reduces edge chipping and extends tool life at the cutting corner. The three-flute, right-hand helical geometry uses a variable pitch design to suppress harmonic vibration during aggressive cuts, making it well suited for both roughing and finishing passes in a single setup. The 40-degree high helix angle promotes chip evacuation in deep-pocket and slot milling applications.
This end mill is designed for CNC machining centers running aluminum, copper, brass, and similar non-ferrous workpiece materials as its primary application. It is part of the H40ALV-3 series, which targets high-speed aluminum machining where chip load consistency and surface finish quality matter. Secondary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials, though aluminum and non-ferrous metals are the rated primary targets. The tool is center-cutting, allowing direct plunge entry. A high-precision toolholder is recommended for maintaining runout within the 0.0003-inch TIR maximum specification.
Part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS H40ALV-3 series. Designed for use with high-precision toolholders. Primary material application is aluminum and non-ferrous metals; secondary applications include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials.
Installation is performed by a trained CNC machinist or tooling technician. Seat the 0.5-inch straight-cylindrical shank fully into a high-precision collet or toolholder and verify runout does not exceed the 0.0003-inch TIR maximum before running at speed. Confirm spindle direction is set to right-hand rotation to match the cutting direction. Follow machine tool manufacturer guidelines for clamping torque and axial tool projection to avoid deflection during extended-reach operations.
