The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 48370 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in professional machining applications. It features a 1/2 inch diameter, a 1 inch length of cut, and a 0.0150 inch corner radius, making it well-suited for both roughing and finishing operations. The 3-flute, single-end geometry paired with a variable pitch and high helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduced vibration. The bright/uncoated finish makes this tool a strong choice for non-ferrous metals, particularly aluminum. It is intended for use with high-precision toolholders to maintain runout within spec.
This end mill is primarily used in CNC milling operations on aluminum and non-ferrous metals, with secondary capability in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high temperature alloys, and hard materials. The centercutting design allows plunge entries, and the straight-cylindrical shank fits standard 1/2 inch collets and toolholders. It is appropriate for both production shops and maintenance machining environments where tight tolerances and clean surface finishes are required.
Part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS H40ALV-3 series. Designed for use with high-precision toolholders. Primary workpiece material is aluminum and non-ferrous metals; secondary capability includes steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high temperature alloys, and hard materials.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully powered down and the machine in a safe, locked-out state. Use a high-precision collet or hydraulic toolholder to stay within the 0.0003 inch TIR specification. Confirm correct shank engagement depth per toolholder manufacturer guidelines before running at speed. Improper clamping or insufficient shank engagement can cause tool pull-out and workpiece damage.
