The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 48346 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance metal removal in both roughing and finishing operations. It features a 0.5000 inch mill diameter, a 0.0300 inch corner radius, and three helical flutes with a variable index pitch for reduced chatter and improved surface finish. The Zplus PVD coating is applied to extend tool life in aluminum and non-ferrous metal applications, though the tool is also rated for steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high temperature alloys, and hard materials. It is installed in high-precision toolholders by machinists and CNC operators in job shops and manufacturing environments.
This end mill is suited for use in CNC machining centers handling a wide range of workpiece materials. The primary application is aluminum and non-ferrous metals, with secondary capability in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high temperature alloys, and hard materials. The stub-length, single-end configuration with a straight-cylindrical shank makes it a practical choice for precision profiling, slotting, and contour milling where corner geometry control is critical. The centercutting design allows plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole.
The 48346 is designed for use with high-precision toolholders and is rated for aluminum, non-ferrous metals, steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high temperature alloys, and hard materials. It belongs to the HELICAL SOLUTIONS H40ALV-3 series.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a safe, locked-out state. Seat the straight-cylindrical shank fully in a high-precision toolholder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before cutting, as this tool has a TIR maximum of 0.0003 inches. Do not exceed the recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material being machined.
