The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 48121 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for high-performance material removal in aluminum and other non-ferrous metals. It carries a 1/4 inch mill diameter, a 3/4 inch length of cut, and a 0.015 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at the cutting edge. The Zplus PVD coating provides thermal resistance and lubricity suited to aluminum chip evacuation. With a 40-degree high helix and variable pitch geometry, this tool is designed to minimize chatter and vibrate at frequencies that disrupt harmonic resonance during aggressive cuts. Machinists and CNC setup technicians install this tool in high-precision toolholders for both roughing and finishing operations.
This end mill is built for aluminum and non-ferrous metal applications as its primary use, with secondary capability in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials. It is a single-end, centercutting tool with right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting direction, making it compatible with conventional CNC milling centers and manual knee mills running right-hand spindle rotation. The 2.5 inch overall length provides clearance for most standard workholding setups without requiring extended-reach tooling. It is suited to production shops, tool rooms, and prototype machining environments where surface finish and dimensional accuracy in non-ferrous work are critical.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders. Primary workpiece material is aluminum and non-ferrous metal (Material Application Code N). Secondary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials (Codes P, M, S, H). Part of the H40ALV-3 series.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC technician. Secure the 1/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank in a high-precision toolholder to stay within the 0.0003 inch maximum TIR specification. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing tooling. Verify runout at the spindle and toolholder before starting the cut to protect both the tool and the workpiece surface.
