The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 48120 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-efficiency material removal in aluminum and other non-ferrous metals. It carries a 1/4 inch mill diameter, a 3/4 inch length of cut, and a 0.0150 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge. The 3-flute, variable-pitch geometry is engineered to minimize chatter and improve surface finish in both roughing and finishing passes. With a 40-degree high helix angle, this single-end tool evacuates chips aggressively, which is critical when cutting aluminum at elevated feed rates. The uncoated solid carbide substrate delivers sharp edge retention on non-ferrous workpieces.
This end mill is suited for CNC machining centers and high-speed milling applications targeting aluminum and non-ferrous metals as primary workpiece materials. It is also rated for secondary use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials. The straight cylindrical shank and h6 shank diameter tolerance make it compatible with high-precision toolholders. It fits standard 1/4 inch collet and shrink-fit systems used in production shops and toolrooms working with tight-tolerance aluminum components.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders; part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS H40ALV-3 series optimized primarily for aluminum and non-ferrous metal milling, with secondary compatibility in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician. Secure the straight cylindrical shank in a high-precision collet chuck or shrink-fit holder to maintain the 0.0003 inch maximum TIR specification. Confirm spindle is fully stopped and machine is in an e-stop or locked-out state before changing tooling. Avoid side-loading the tool during tool changes, and verify runout with a dial indicator before production cuts.
