The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 48081 is a 3-flute, solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-efficiency material removal and finishing in a single tool. It carries a 0.2500 inch mill diameter with a 0.0150 inch corner radius, a 0.3750 inch length of cut, and a 2.0000 inch overall length. The Zplus PVD coating is applied specifically for aluminum and non-ferrous metal cutting, reducing built-up edge and extending tool life. The variable index geometry reduces harmonic chatter, making it well suited for both roughing and finishing passes. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers working in job shops, aerospace, and production facilities will find this tool appropriate for precision contouring and pocket milling operations.
The 48081 is engineered primarily for aluminum and non-ferrous metals, with secondary capability in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high temperature alloys, and hard materials. The stub-length configuration keeps tool deflection low in tight-tolerance applications. It is a single-end, centercutting design, allowing plunge entry where required. Right-hand cutting direction and right-hand flute direction are standard. The straight-cylindrical shank is sized at 0.2500 inch diameter and is specified for use with high-precision toolholders to maintain the 0.0003 inch maximum TIR rating.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders. Primary workpiece material is aluminum and non-ferrous metal; secondary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high temperature alloys, and hard materials. Part of the H40ALV-3 series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle and toolholder are clean and free of chips before seating the shank. Use a high-precision collet or shrink-fit holder to maintain the specified 0.0003 inch maximum TIR. Verify runout with a dial test indicator before beginning a production run, and confirm all axis feeds and speeds are set per the tooling manufacturer recommendations for the specific workpiece material.
