It features a 3/16-inch cutting diameter, a 3/4-inch length of cut, and a 40-degree helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation in aluminum and other non-ferrous materials. A Zplus coating reduces built-up edge and extends tool life. The variable index geometry — unequal spacing between flutes — dampens harmonic vibration during cutting, helping maintain surface finish and dimensional accuracy. This tool is single-end and center-cutting, allowing plunge entry. It is used by machinists and CNC operators in job shops, production environments, and aerospace or automotive part manufacturing.

The 48046 is designed for aluminum milling operations where chip flow and finish quality are priorities. Its straight cylindrical shank accepts standard ER collets or end mill holders.
