The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 46256 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in non-ferrous metals and aluminum, with secondary capability in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high temperature alloys, and hard materials. It carries a 3/8-inch cutting diameter, a 0.0300-inch corner radius, and three flutes configured for both roughing and finishing operations. The Zplus PVD coating extends tool life and reduces built-up edge in aluminum and non-ferrous applications. A variable-pitch, high-helix geometry reduces chatter and improves surface finish at aggressive feed rates. This tool is single-end, center-cutting, and intended for use in high-precision toolholders.
This end mill fits standard CNC machining center applications where extended reach is required. The 2.125-inch reach length and 4-inch overall length make it well suited for deeper pocket milling, shoulder milling, and profiling operations where a standard-length tool would not clear the workpiece or fixture. It is used primarily by machinists working aluminum and non-ferrous stock, but the H40ALV-RN-3 series geometry supports work in steel, stainless, and high-temperature alloys when conditions call for it. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly in ER collets, shrink-fit holders, or hydraulic chucks rated for high-precision work.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders including ER collet chucks, shrink-fit holders, and hydraulic chucks. Primary workpiece material is aluminum and non-ferrous metal; secondary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high temperature alloys, and hard materials. Part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS H40ALV-RN-3 series.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Confirm the toolholder meets the TIR maximum of 0.0003 inches before seating the tool. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the program is in a safe state before changing or measuring the tool. Follow shop runout verification procedures after tool installation and before running the first part.
