The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 46076 is a 3-flute solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance aluminum cutting applications. Built around a 1/4 inch diameter with a 3/8 inch length of cut and a 40-degree helix angle, this end mill is engineered to evacuate chips efficiently and maintain surface finish in non-ferrous metals. The Zplus coating reduces built-up edge and extends tool life in aluminum alloys. Variable index flute spacing dampens vibration during aggressive cuts, improving stability and finish quality. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers working in job shops or production environments will find this tool well-suited for profiling, slotting, and finishing operations in aluminum.
This end mill is intended for use in aluminum and other non-ferrous materials where chip packing and heat buildup are primary concerns. The reduced neck design allows for extended reach cuts at 3/4 inch reach length while maintaining rigidity. With a 2.5 inch overall length and a 1/4 inch straight cylindrical shank, it fits standard collet toolholders on CNC mills and machining centers. The single-end geometry means the tool is replaced rather than flipped when worn. This series is purpose-built for aluminum work where surface finish and material removal rate both matter.
Designed for use in aluminum and non-ferrous materials as part of the End Mills for Aluminum - 3 Flute - Square - 40 deg Helix - Variable Pitch - Reduced Neck series. Fits standard 1/4 inch collet toolholders and end mill holders on CNC milling machines and machining centers.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully in the collet or toolholder and torque the retention nut according to the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production run, as excessive runout will accelerate wear on a variable-index geometry tool.
