The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 45212 is a 5-flute, solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding metalworking applications. It carries a 3/8 inch cutting diameter with a 0.0300 inch corner radius, a 1/2 inch length of cut, and a 2 inch overall length. The tool features a variable index geometry and an APLUS PVD coating, which improves wear resistance and extends tool life across a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It is single-end, center-cutting, and runs in a right-hand cutting direction with a straight cylindrical shank. This end mill is installed and run by machinists, toolroom operators, and CNC setup technicians working in production and job-shop environments.
The 45212 is built for both roughing and finishing operations. Its stub-length configuration and variable pitch spiral flutes reduce chatter and improve chip evacuation during aggressive cuts. Primary workpiece materials include steel and cast iron. Secondary applications cover stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The tool is part of the HEV-5 series and is intended for use with high-precision toolholders to maintain runout control and maximize cutting performance.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders. Suitable for steel, cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials as defined by the HEV-5 series material application codes P, K, M, N, S, and H.
Installation should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators following established toolholding procedures. Secure the shank fully within the toolholder collet or chuck to the recommended engagement depth before torquing. Verify runout at the cutting edge before beginning a production run. Always confirm spindle direction and programmed feed and speed parameters match the tool geometry before engaging the workpiece.
