The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 45138 is a 5-flute corner radius end mill ground from solid carbide and coated with a proprietary APLUS PVD finish. It carries a 1/4 inch diameter with a 0.0600 inch corner radius, a 3/4 inch length of cut, and a 2.5 inch overall length. The APLUS coating improves lubricity and wear resistance, extending tool life in demanding cutting cycles. Designed for the HEV-5 series, this tool features a variable pitch configuration that reduces harmonic chatter during high-speed passes. It is suited for machinists and CNC operators running roughing and finishing operations in a single setup on steel, cast iron, and a range of secondary workpiece materials.
The 45138 is built for use in CNC machining centers where both material removal rate and surface finish matter in the same operation. Its centercutting geometry allows plunge entry, and right-hand flute direction with right-hand cutting rotation aligns with standard spindle configurations. Primary material applications include steel and cast iron. Secondary material applications include stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The straight cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance is compatible with high-precision toolholders, collet chucks, and shrink-fit systems commonly used in precision shops.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders including collet chucks and shrink-fit systems. Part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS HEV-5 series. Suitable for primary workpiece materials steel and cast iron, and secondary workpiece materials stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials.
Installation is performed by a CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer is disabled before inserting or removing the tool. Use a high-precision toolholder rated for the shank diameter to maintain TIR within acceptable limits. Verify tool stick-out and runout with a dial indicator before beginning production cuts.
