The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 44302 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining environments. With a 0.5-inch cutting diameter and a 1.625-inch length of cut, this tool removes material efficiently across a range of workpiece materials. The 5-flute geometry with variable index spacing reduces harmonic vibration during cuts, improving surface finish and tool life. The APLUS coating adds wear resistance and lubricity, making this end mill well-suited for hardened steels, stainless, and other demanding alloys. This tool is installed and used by machinists and CNC operators in job shop, production, and tool-and-die environments.
This end mill is intended for use in vertical machining centers, CNC mills, and manual knee mills where a 0.5-inch straight-cylindrical shank holder is available. The right-hand cut and right-hand helical flute geometry are standard for conventional and climb milling on most CNC platforms. The 4-inch overall length provides clearance for typical workholding setups without excessive overhang. Center-cutting capability allows plunge entry into the workpiece, giving operators flexibility for slot milling and pocket operations without pre-drilling.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide end mill for use in any machine tool accepting a 0.5-inch straight-cylindrical shank, including collet chucks, end mill holders, and hydraulic toolholders commonly found on vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine in a fully powered-down and locked-out state per applicable machine safety procedures. Seat the shank fully in the toolholder and torque the retention mechanism to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Inspect the collet or holder for runout before beginning a cut, as excessive runout accelerates tool wear and reduces surface finish quality. Coolant type and feed-and-speed parameters should be selected based on workpiece material and machine capability.
