The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 44227 is a 5-flute solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in steel and ferrous materials. With a 3/8-inch cutting diameter and 1-inch length of cut, it handles slotting, profiling, and finishing passes in demanding applications. The APLUS coating improves wear resistance and heat dissipation at the cutting edge. Variable index flute spacing reduces harmonic chatter during aggressive cuts, extending tool life and improving surface finish. This end mill is a single-end, right-hand cutting tool with a straight cylindrical shank. It is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers working in job shops, production facilities, and tool rooms.
This end mill is built for milling carbon steels, alloy steels, tool steels, and similar ferrous materials. It fits standard 3/8-inch tool holders, collets, and shrink-fit systems. The 3-inch overall length suits most vertical machining centers and manual mills where clearance is not restricted. The 1-inch length of cut accommodates moderate-depth slotting and side milling operations. The centercutting geometry supports plunge entry as well as conventional ramping and helical interpolation entry strategies.
Designed for use in the HELICAL SOLUTIONS End Mills for Steels series, 5-flute square variable-pitch configuration. Fits any 3/8-inch ID toolholder including ER collets, milling chucks, and shrink-fit holders on vertical or horizontal machining centers.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an e-stop or locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the holder and torque the retention mechanism according to the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut, as excessive runout reduces tool life and surface quality.
