The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 34257 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in both roughing and finishing operations. It features a 1/2 inch diameter, a 0.0300 inch corner radius, and five flutes with a variable index pitch to reduce harmonics and chatter during aggressive cuts. The tool is finished with an APLUS PVD coating, which extends tool life when cutting steel, cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. It is a single-end, centercutting design with a right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting direction. Machinists and CNC operators in production shops and job shops install this tool in high-precision toolholders for tight-tolerance work.
This end mill is suited for milling operations on steel and cast iron as primary workpiece materials, with secondary capability in stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The stub-length flute profile and straight cylindrical shank make it appropriate for applications requiring rigidity and minimal deflection. It fits standard 1/2 inch collet chucks and hydraulic or shrink-fit toolholders rated for high-precision use. The HEV-5 series is built for shops running modern CNC machining centers where tool runout and surface finish tolerances are critical.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders including hydraulic, shrink-fit, and high-accuracy collet chuck systems accepting a 1/2 inch straight cylindrical shank. Suitable for CNC machining centers running steel, cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials per HEV-5 series application guidelines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before loading or removing the tool. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder to the recommended gauge line and verify total indicator runout does not exceed the 0.0005 inch TIR maximum before running. Use toolholder torque specifications provided by the toolholder manufacturer, not generic values.
