The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 34227 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in steel, cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It features a 3/8 inch diameter cutting head with a 0.5 mm (0.0200 inch) corner radius and five variable-pitch helical flutes. The APLUS PVD coating extends tool life in demanding ferrous and exotic alloy applications. With a 1 inch length of cut and 3 inch overall length, this single-end, center-cutting tool is suited for both roughing and finishing operations on CNC machining centers and manual mills requiring close-tolerance work.
The 34227 belongs to the Helical Solutions HEV-5 series, which targets shops running steel and cast iron as primary workpiece materials. Its variable pitch flute geometry reduces harmonic vibration during aggressive cuts. The straight cylindrical shank at 3/8 inch diameter is compatible with high-precision toolholders, making it appropriate for production environments where runout control is critical. It is intended for use by machinists and CNC operators across job shops, tool rooms, and production machining facilities.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders. Primary workpiece materials are steel and cast iron; secondary materials include stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Part of the Helical Solutions HEV-5 series.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per facility safety procedures. Seat the straight cylindrical shank fully into a high-precision collet or toolholder and torque the retention mechanism to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout at the cutting edge before initiating a cut; maximum TIR for this tool is 0.0005 inch. Confirm feed, speed, and depth-of-cut parameters against the material and machine capability before engaging the workpiece.
