The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 33542 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for aggressive roughing in steel and cast iron applications. It features a 0.5 inch diameter with a 0.03 inch corner radius, a 1.625 inch length of cut, and a 4 inch overall length. The chipbreaker geometry on all four flutes breaks chips into smaller segments, reducing cutting forces and heat buildup during heavy material removal. The variable pitch flute spacing minimizes harmonic chatter, making it well suited for high-feed roughing passes on CNC machining centers. The APLUS PVD coating improves wear resistance and tool life in ferrous materials. This tool is intended for installation and use by skilled machinists and CNC operators working with precision toolholders.
The 33542 is designed for roughing operations in low-alloy steel, medium alloy steel, tool steel, and cast iron. It performs in both mold and die work and general production machining where rapid stock removal is required before a finishing pass. The straight cylindrical shank with an h6 tolerance fits standard 0.5 inch precision toolholders and collet chucks. Centercutting capability allows plunge entry where needed. This tool is recommended for use with high precision toolholders to maintain runout within the 0.0005 inch maximum TIR specification.
Designed for use with high precision toolholders. Primary workpiece materials are low-alloy steel, medium alloy steel, tool steel, and cast iron (Material Application Codes P and K). Shank diameter tolerance is h6 for precise fitment in collet and hydraulic toolholding systems.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before loading or removing the tool from the holder. Use a high precision toolholder to stay within the 0.0005 inch maximum TIR specification and prevent premature edge wear. Confirm tool projection and stick-out against the programmed depth of cut before running the first part.
