The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 33167 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for aggressive material removal in steel and cast iron applications. It features a 0.25 inch mill diameter, a 1 inch length of cut, and a 0.50 mm (0.0200 inch) corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge and extends tool life. The chipbreaker geometry along the flute face breaks chips into manageable segments, reducing heat buildup and cutting forces during roughing passes. The APLUS PVD coating provides elevated hardness and thermal resistance suited for ferrous workpiece materials. This tool is intended for use by machinists and toolmakers running CNC milling operations in shop or production environments.
The 33167 is designed for roughing operations in low-alloy steel, medium alloy steel, tool steel, and cast iron. Its variable pitch flute geometry disrupts harmonic resonance during cuts, reducing chatter and improving surface finish even at higher feed rates. The single-end, center-cutting design allows for plunge entry as well as conventional and climb milling paths. With a 3 inch overall length and straight cylindrical shank, it seats directly into standard collet chucks and high-precision toolholders without adapters.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders including collet chucks and shrink-fit holders. Primary workpiece materials are low-alloy steel, medium alloy steel, tool steel, and cast iron (material codes P and K). Part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS HSVR-C-4 series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before loading or unloading the end mill. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder to the recommended gauge depth and torque the collet nut per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout does not exceed the maximum TIR of 0.0005 inches before beginning the cut.
