The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 30152 is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for cutting steel and other ferrous materials. It features a 1/4 inch diameter with a 3/4 inch length of cut and a 2-1/2 inch overall length, making it well-suited for slotting, profiling, and finishing passes in tight tolerances. The four-flute, variable-index geometry reduces harmonic vibration during cutting, improving surface finish and tool life. An APLUS coating provides enhanced wear resistance and heat dissipation at the cutting edge. This end mill is designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills by machinists working in production or job-shop environments.
This end mill is intended for steel machining applications in both production and job-shop settings. The variable-index flute spacing helps minimize chatter in interrupted cuts and side milling operations. It fits standard 1/4 inch straight-cylindrical toolholders, collet chucks, and shrink-fit holders. The right-hand cut and right-hand helical flutes follow conventional climb and conventional milling setups. It is a single-end tool with center-cutting capability, allowing plunge entry where required.
Designed as an OEM-style cutting tool for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting 1/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank end mills. Optimized for steel and ferrous alloy workpiece materials per the HELICAL SOLUTIONS End Mills for Steels series designation.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine in a full stop and locked-out state per applicable machine-guarding and lockout/tagout procedures. Confirm toolholder runout is within acceptable limits before engaging the workpiece, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on solid carbide tools. Tighten collet nuts to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque using the correct spanner — do not use improvised tools. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping or coating wear before each use and replace the tool if damage is observed.
